Kalaivanan hails from Kalayan Nagar area near Kuthalam in Mayiladuthurai district. More than 20 cases are pending against the teenager, including four cases of murder and seven cases of attempted murder. His name also appears in the raid list of police documents.

In this situation, Kalaivanan has been preparing a homemade bomb in the back of his house. A domestic explosive has exploded unexpectedly while being prepared. As a result, all 10 of his fingers have been severed on the spot. Apart from that, the leg, thigh and other parts of the body were seriously injured.

On hearing the sound of a bomb blast, the relatives and the locals gathered there and found Kalaivanan lying in a pool of blood and took him to the Mayiladuthurai Government Hospital. After that they were taken to Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

When Kalaiwanano made a home-made bomb at the back of his house, the bomb suddenly exploded and when the accident occurred, according to the statement given to the police by Kalaiwanano, three mysterious persons threw the bomb on him. He said that when he tried to catch it with his hand and throw it away, it exploded. As a result, the police have visited Rowdy Kalaivanan's house and are conducting an investigation.
